Claude Baril founder of  two Alpha-1  Support Mailing List's, ALPHA-LUNG and ALPHA-LIVER, and creator of the original mailing list website “Alphalink.org” passed away on January 4, 1999 from complications related to a lung transplant.

Claude is survived by his beloved wife and three sons in St. Esprit, Quebec, Canada. As founder of the Alpha-1 International Mailing List, an Internet mailing list, Claude made it possible for people with Alpha-1 to connect and share their experiences from locations all over the world.

“I had some experience with the Internet and suffered badly from geographic isolation from other Alphas. In September 1995, I started the alpha-1 mailing list on the Internet. I am happy to be the ‘instrument’ of spreading so much information and support among our small commuity.”

“We have had many surprises as the membership grew to more than 200 members after one year of operation.  This ‘Internet Mailing List’ is a ‘virtual group’ of alphas helping each other with daily support and a wealth of information.” . . . Claude Baril

Thanks to Claude, and our dear friend Paul Marks, this global Support Group now has a membership of nearly 500 people representing the United States, Canada, Germany, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Africa, Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

Through volunteers, the  Alpha2alpha.org Internet web site is proud to continue in this effort  in memory of Claude Baril, Paul Marks, and all of our past Alpha angels we have come to know and love on the Alpha-1 Mailing list and Alphalink.org.
